Baker comes home with state title in the 800
Finishes 3rd in 1600 and 3200-meter runs

It was nearly a one-man show for the New Town Eagles at the state track meet last weekend as Alex Baker scored more than half the Eagles points, winning the 800-meter run and taking third in the 1600 and 3200-meter runs.
Baker, who has been a prolific runner all year, eclipsed Dalton Herding of Hankinson to claim the top prize in the 800 in 2:02. Herding was a mere half second behind Baker at the finish line.
Baker’s time in the 1600 was 4:34, just 8 seconds behind Cody Christ of Barnes County North. In the 3200, Baker took third, once again finishing behind the highly touted Christ who crossed the line in 9:51. Baker’s time was 10:01.
