Area runners do well in Dickinson

 

Cross Country runners from New Town and Mandaree performed well in the Beki Wells Invitational Meet held at the Heart River Golf Course in Dickinson on Saturday, Sept. 6.

In the girls division Tyleigh Brady led the Eagles with a 40th place finish followed by Melayna Four Bear in 63rd place, Ceara Little Soldier 64th, Kirah Morsette 67th, and Ariana Bell 68th. Hailey White Owl competed in the Junior Varsity division and finished in 59th place out of 94 runners.

"The girls team is working hard and will improve as the season progresses," said New Town Head Coach Brian Anderson.

Mandaree had two girls running in the Jr. Varsity division. Hailey Vigen finished 70th with a time of 21:32.20 andNancy Lincoln placed 92nd with a time of 26:56.53.

"There is a lot of promise for the kids and we are changing up a lot of the athletic program to make sure the change that I expect will continue on into the kids and the sports programs," said Mandaree Principal and Athletic Director Lance Jackson. "The kids have a ways to go, but with some good leadership and some strong coaching from Donovan Abbey we are planning to turn the corner for the Cross Country Program."
