The state-ranked New Town Eagles boys basketball team continues to roll. The 8th ranked Eagles are 13-1. This past week, the team racked up three more wins, defeating district foes Watford City this past Thursday, 55-50, and Parshall 92-63 this past Saturday. Tuesday night, the Eagles kept flying, taking another district contest, 86-60 – this time the victim was Mandaree.
New Town takes control of Wildcats in 2nd half
Talk about excitement in a small town gymnasium on a cold, winter night. New Town and North Shore sure provided high school basketball fans with plenty of action Jan. 20 before the Eagles pulled away in the second half to secure a 91-69 score.
New Town secures nonconference victory
New Town remained in third place among all teams in District 15 following a convincing, 62-47 win over Max last Thursday night. The win pushed the Eagles to 5-2 overall and brought the girls to within a half game of second place Stanley. Watford City remains out in front in the district, but just lost its first game of the year on Monday night.
New Town holds its own
For the first time in several years, New Town went into its annual, early January invitational wrestling tournament with some optimism that there is strength in numbers. The Eagles didn’t disappoint. New Town finished a strong fourth while wrestling against seven other teams that braved the winter cold to compete against some of the best Class B wrestling competition in northwestern North Dakota.
New Town Eagles remain unbeaten
New Town pushed its unbeaten record to 9-0 this season in winning the NWC Tournament last weekend in Stanley. The Eagles topped the Kenmare Honkers, 72-63, to claim first place in the 14-team tournament that boasts the best high school basketball talent in the northwest. Trinity Christian took third and Trenton came in fourth.
