Stanley takes Region 8 title
The Parshall Braves and Kenmare Honkers may have been favored in the run up to the Region 8 Boys Basketball Tournament held in Williston, but it was the Stanley Bluejays who will be making their first trip to a state basketball tournament since Franklin Roosevelt was in office.
Wolves upend Braves championship hopes
After upsetting the favored New Town Eagles in the semifinals of the Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament in Williston, the Parshall Braves were hopeful coming into the championship game against the Watford City Wolves. They couldn’t break through the Wolve’s defense or hit their free throws and fell 61-36.
Shorthanded Eagles fall in overtime
It was Senior Night as the New Town Eagles took the floor for their season finale against the ninth ranked Beulah Miners (16-3) in New Town Saturday but two seniors weren’t able to suit up because they were academically ineligible.

The National High School Athletic Coaches Association has announced the advancement of Brian Anderson from New Town High School as a finalist for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association national coach of the year in the sport of Boys Cross Country.
