New Town was led by three athletes in the Hazen Invitational track meet last Friday.
Shanice Lambert and Jayli Fimbres supplied all the scoring, 32 points, in the 800 and 1600-meter runs, while Donovan Lambert picked up six points in the 1600 and one point in the 800.
Donovan Lambert’s 1600-meter run took him 5:02.65, good enough for third place ahead of Watford City’s Hayes Feilmeier and Beulah’s Clinton Senn.
In the 800, Lambert just made the cutoff in 2:21.45, just two seconds back of Andrew Kaiser of Washburn. Easton Paige, Carrington, won the event.
For the girls, Lambert and Fimbres provided enough punch to give the girls a respectable score of 32 and 10th place on the day. Carrington was the eventual team winner.
In the 800, Lambert’s 2:35.16 bested Hazen’s Sarah Grimm by three seconds, while Fimbres, whose time was 2:39.40, fell just a second shy of Grimm.
Brooke Fettig also competed in the race for New Town.
The 1600 was a carbon copy, only that the times were different.
