An intense winter storm rolled through much of North Dakota on the last day of autumn Monday bringing a new round of heavy snow on top of what is already a near record depth for the month of December.
Unofficial reports from around Mountrail County indicate that anywhere from 8 to 10 inches of snow fell from about 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday. At times during mid morning the snowfall was heavy, reducing visibility to near zero at times.
New Town received 8 inches of new snow and Parshall got 7 inches, according to local weather spotters. Eight inches of new snow fell on Stanley while Ross and White Earth received 10 inches. Plaza lucked out and received only 6 inches of new snow.
