VFW welcomes home Vietnam Veterans

By Edna Sailor

Welcome home Vietnam Vets.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9061 said welcome home in a big way recently. Their observance honored dozens of veterans for Vietnam Veterans Day. It was the joyful welcome home these veterans did not get when the Vietnam War ended.

VFW Post 9061 members and their auxiliary gathered their community together to help pay tribute that was so long overdue.

With reverence and gratitude, the event, held at the Johnny Bird Veterans Memorial building at the Four Bears Segment, opened with the VFW veteran processional and presentation of colors.

Johnny Morsette offered the opening prayer which included a message in his native language. He remembered returning veterans, family sacrifices and those killed in action.

Throughout the event, speakers and participants also recognized POWs and MIAs with somber moments of reflection for those who did not return
