Two businesses in New Town robbed

By Jerry W. Kram

Two robberies were reported in New Town Monday and Tuesday. The New Town Police Department Chief of Police David Shawstad said he believes both crimes were committed by the same person.

At 7:15 p.m. Monday a man in a ski mask robbed the Little Missouri Inn and Suites. He passed a note to the desk clerk saying he had a firearm and demanding the money in the hotel safe. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. No one was hurt in the incident.

Security footage showed the suspect entered through the rear guest entrance of the hotel. He fled through the front door of the hotel after the robber. There was no security footage from outside of the hotel because the cameras haven’t been installed yet.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s with blue eyes and about 5’9" and 165 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark baseball cap and faded jeans that were torn on the front and back of the thighs. He was also wearing brown work boots and grayish gloves.
