Trenton nearly trips in District 15
By Jerry W. Kram
There was a clear division between the top and bottom teams in the District 15 Girls Basketball Tournament held at the 4 Bears Event Center this week. But it was the undefeated and top-ranked Trenton Tigers who faced the toughest games of the tournament.
Trenton’s record earned them a bye in the first round of the tournament, while the second, third and fourth seeds, Parshall, New Town and Mandaree dispatched their foes with ease. In the first game on Thursday afternoon, Mandaree put up 42 points in the first half on the way to stopping the North Shore-Plaza Wildcats 75-35. Daysha Serdahl had 24 points for the Warriors to lead all scorers.
The New Town Eagles plowed through the Williston Trinity Christian-Alexander Comet-Crusaders 59-23. Ivy Fox and Makaila Martin had 15 and 13 points to lead the Eagles to victory. The Parshall Braves had no problems with the winless White Shield Warriors, coming away with a 68-29 win. Wynter Deane had 18 points and Cedar Hall had 16 to lead the Braves.
