Trailer park residents to be displaced

Trailer park residents to be displaced
By Jerry W. Kram

Residents of Prairie Winds Trailer Court in New Town got an unwelcome gift the day after Christmas. A notice telling them that the court would be closed and all the trailers would have to be moved was taped to the doors of each of the trailers.
The letter, which was similar to letters mailed to residents earlier in the month, also informed them that rent in the court would be rising from $120 a month to $200 a month.
The letters only carried the name Future Properties, LLC, the company that purchased the court from Wayne and Brenda Stubstad. John Reese, manager of United Prairie Cooperative, is the spokesman for Future Properties.
“Future Properties purpose in buying the court is to provide housing for United Prairie Cooperative,” Reese said. “No definite decisions have been made about what will be built there. The property has been purchased and the future use of the property will not be a mobile home park.”
Reese said no firm date has been set for closing the trailer court, but the letter residents received said the group is “looking at mid-May to the first of June to have the property cleared for our project.”
