Tele-Mental Health comes to New Town schools

Tele-Mental Health comes to New Town schools

A state of the art Tele-Mental Health service has come to the New Town School District.
The program began on November 12. The New Town Public School District and Community Partners will use a nationwide network to help students.
Kelly McGrady, RN under the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Leadership Program, working with the local Elbowoods Memorial Health Center, met the ReGroup Team in Albuquerque, N.M., at the National Indian Health Board Behavioral Health Summit. The meeting addressed Native Youth Suicide prevention and intervention efforts.
This effort is in partnership with Communities in Schools which is being implemented within the District to improve the wellbeing and academic success to all students. The most recent partnership has been in the works since June 2019.
Upon visiting with the ReGroup Telehealth Team of Naveen Kathuria and Micah Nickey, McGrady felt this Telepsychiatry program would help with the overwhelming numbers of suicide ideations/attempts and other social and emotional issues that the school deals with daily.
