School construction delayed but on schedule

School construction delayed but on schedule

Construction of the new High School building in New Town won’t be finished early, as the contractors and New Town School Board had hoped.
Ideal weather for most of the winter had raised hopes that the new building would be finished by the end of the school year on May 23. New Town School Superintendent Marc Bluestone told the school board that delays in getting windows and doors had set the project back,
Bluestone said he had hoped the project would have been finished by the end of the school year so desks, books and other equipment and supplies could be moved to the new section before construction started on a geothermal heating system for the middle school. The school district is putting its contractors on a tight schedule to have the project done before school starts up in the fall.
“The contractors have said they will have the superintendent’s and administrative offices ready to move into by the end of May,” Bluestone said. “That will work because that’s where work on installing the geothermal system will start in the old building.”
