“We’re either going to get bigger or we’re not going to have the technology to remain strong.” Those words, spoken by Terry Wilber, president of Reservation Telephone Cooperative’s board of directors, seems to sum up the direction the co-op is moving.
During the co-op’s 60th annual meeting last Thursday, members heard that RTC is committed to adding new technology to provide the best possible service for its customers.
High on RTC’s list of technological advances has been its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project. During 2010, RTC completed FTTH projects in certain areas of the following exchanges: Emmet, Garrison, New Town, Kenmare, Mandaree, Norma, Parshall, Plaza, Ross, Spencer, Watford City and White Shield.
Due to the costs associated with improved technology, primarily from its FTTH project, RTC has assumed substantial interest on long-term debt.
