Rodeo returns to New Town

By Jerry W. Kram

The Old West spirit will be out in force on Friday and Saturday as the New Town Rodeo Grounds will once again be hosting top flight talent at the sixth Adrian Foote Sr. Annual Rodeo.

This year the event has been expanded to two days, July 29 and 30. The fun will begin at 6 p.m. both evenings. The entrance to the Rodeo Grounds is off of North Dakota Highway 23 just west of the stop light and will be marked. The admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children, but Friday is family night and those under 12 can get in for free.

Organizer Blaine Foote anticipates that there will be more than 150 cowboys and cowgirls from as far away as Texas competing in the rodeo’s seven events. There will be one women’s event, barrel racing, along with bareback bronc, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, and bull riding.
