Random Acts of Kindness

Random Acts of Kindness
By Jerry W. Kram

New Town High School Principal John Gartner told the District School Board that a program to recognize positive behavior in the high school was having positive results.
Every week, teachers nominate a student in their classroom who has done “the Right Thing,” Gartner said. One of those students is rewarded with a $10 Cenex gift card. The program is encouraging students, who can always use more gas money, to do good deeds for their fellow students.
“Since we started this, we have have had three students turn in cash that they found,” Gartner said. “We’ve also had a whole lot of lost cell phones and keys turned in. We are seeing kids starting to do more than just be good to earn gas money.”
