Rain doesn't dampen PRCA rodeo

Now in its sixth year, the Adrian Foote Memorial Rodeo has become an institution in New Town. It didn’t let a little thing like a flooded arena slow it down.
More than three inches of rain fell the week before the rodeo and organizer Blaine Foote said the rodeo grounds on the west side of New Town looked like a lake. Volunteers and a crew of New Town city employees worked feverishly to work the water into the soil to get the arena dry enough for the event.
“That arena was terrible this morning,” Foote said. “It was a lake.”
New Town City Coordinator Daryl Lyson brought out some equipment to help work the water and mud up so the arena could dry out. By the time the national anthem was played at 6 p.m. Friday, the ground was solid and had a good surface for the cowboys.
