Hal Weninger is going to miss the great customers and friends he’s made over the past 28 years but now that he is retiring in a week, the Parshall postmaster is looking forward to more outdoor activities.
Harold (Hal) Weninger, who lives in New Town, began his career in the Parshall post office in September 1982 as a part-time flexible cleark and by January 1987, had worked his way up to postmaster. His last postmark will be next Friday, March 13.
Customers and friends are invited to stop by the Parshall Post Office at 107 Main Street South from 1:30-4 p.m., next Friday, enjoy coffee and cookies and wish him well in his retirement.
“Meeting people at the counter is what I’m going to miss,” Weninger said. “I’ve made some great friends and have great customers. I’m going to miss that.”
He said his last day won’t be an elaborate retirement party, but an officer in charge will be on hand to take care of business and transition the office so Weninger will be able to enjoy the afternoon with his patrons and leave work in the style he has earned after all these years.
