Phase Three starts Friday

By Jerry W. Kram

Work on the Main Street Construction project will see major work begin on the final leg of the project, from Center Avenue to East Avenue start on Friday, August 21.

Project Superintendent Roger Watson of Marschuetz Construction said the subcontractor will start work on the installing storm sewer pipes from Corner Liquor to the Jack and Jill. Watson said that work would be complete close to the end of August and then his crews would start milling the street asphalt in preparation of laying down new concrete pavement in September.

There could be some utility outages as new water connections to businesses are completed.

"Our goal is to get all the big stuff complete and tied in and usable by October," Watson said. "If everything goes to plan, the streets will continue to be traversable for the rest of the project."
