Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure

Twelve hundred youth are better off now than they were before. The Three Affiliated Tribes Diabetes Project has undertaken a rigorous schedule of diabetse screenings across the Fort Berthold Reservation and its schools.
Jared Eagle, Fort Berthold Diabetes Program Director, is passionate about the long term benefits of early identification of children at risk. Beginning in January of this year trough March 8 Eagle and his program will perform 23 screenings in schools reservation wide.
For the past eight years Eagle and his team have been able to assess the health status of children. Their information is used to develop a database that becomes a critical tool in providing healthy lifestyle assistance to children and families and children on Fort Berthold.
