Open for business
New Edgewater Country Club serves first meal

Last fall, the Edgewater Country Club held a “Last Dance” as the historic building will be demolished this spring for the Highway 23 Bypass. But on Sunday, the new Edgewater Country Club held a “First Breakfast Buffet” for members of the community to launch a brand new season in a brand new building.
The new building couldn’t be more different from the old country club, which was built in the depression and moved from Elbowoods to New Town in the 50s and then out to the golf course in 1979. The new dining room has a soaring vaulted ceiling and tall windows overlooking the courses three new holes and Lake Sakakawea. A modern kitchen is filled with gleaming stainless steel and a cozy little bar is nestled in a corner of the building. The club also has a pro shop and a conference room.
Golf club manager Ray Helphrey said that some landscaping and repairs will have to be finished before the patio overlooking a bay of the lake will be ready for use. He is looking forward to hosting members of the community in the new facility.
