North Segment car wash open for business

It’s been said that New Town is 70 miles away from everything, but North Segment has been working to make it easier for area residents to get the services they need without leaving town.
Their newest venture is a combined touchless and manual car wash on the Main Street of New Town that will soon be joined by a car detailing service and oil change garage. Tribal Business Council Representative Monica Mayer said the grand opening Friday was a long time coming.
“This will be the first tribally owned car wash,” Mayer said. “The pandemic threw us off by about six months or so. But we did it. It’s very exciting.”
Mayer said people from New Town used to have to drive to Minot to get their car washed, do laundry and get an oil change. Now, she said, they will be able to do all those things right on the Main Street of New Town.
“We got the laundromat up, we got the car wash up today, and we will get the quick-lube up in a month or so,” Mayer said.
The eye-catching building sits on the lot of the former Rensch’s car dealership.
“I like it,” Mayer said. “I think it’s unique. It’s got a prime location. Instead of an abandoned vacant building sitting on Main Street we have a beautiful new business.”
