North Carolina couple moves to New Town to stay

By Edna Sailor

When Joe and Jennifer Stillwell moved to New Town three years ago, they were looking for a place to put down roots. Fast forward to the New Year and the couple has relocated their company, Global Petroleum Energy, but have yet to find a home of their own. The Stillwells moved in with their parents and met the many challenges facing them on a number of levels.

First, they have a baby son born in October. Little Parker entered this world prematurely weighing only 2.5 lbs. The new parents both smiled as they declared him a "miracle baby."

"I was told I would never have children, Jennifer said, "So we were pleasantly surprised when we found out he was on the way." That was in August. Little Parker pulled off another miracle. He was born earlier than expected in October.

Joe needed some good news by that time. He suffered a heart attack in September. But the energetic young couple persevered.

"We grew up in families where we were expected to work hard and we are hard workers," Joe said. "Our business is a fourth generation operation that started back in North Carolina where my family lived."

Both Joe and Jennifer are adamant they have found their home base in New Town.
