New Town’s new landmark
By Jerry W. Kram
Coming from the northwest on North Dakota Highway 1804, travelers will now have a new landmark telling them they are nearly to New Town.
Thursday, Maguire Iron erected the city’s new water town west of Highway 1804 and about a mile north of the United Quality Retail Center. The tower is 150 feet tall and will hold 250,000 gallons. The tower will be painted with the New Town city “Heart of Lake Sakakwea” logo. However, engineer Jason Strand said the paint needs to be applied at a certain temperature so some sunshine will be required before the tower takes on its final appearance.
