After three days of playing cards in a Minot hotel, Dennis White Owl of New Town, walked away with a substantial amount of cash.
White Owl finished sixth in the seventh annual North Dakota State Championship Poker Tournament held over the New Year’s weekend in the Vegas Hotel. White Owl was one of 1,715 poker players who began the tournament with a chance to win the top prize of $40,000.
Andrew Gray, Jamestown, took the first-place trophy and the top cash prize. Often referred to as a mini World Series of Poker, the tournament is modeled after the famous Las Vegas tournaments. Walking away with the second-place paycheck for $18,000 was Greg Dahle of Carpio.
