New Town Firehouse dedicated
By Jerry W. Kram
Most people realize New Town is a very different place than it was just ten short years ago. As the community has grown with the oil boom, the job of protecting it has grown as well.
That’s why last week the New Town Volunteer Fire Department dedicated its new fire hall. The department will be acquiring a new ladder truck in a few months and the old fire hall wasn’t large enough to accommodate it, said Fire Chief John DeGroot.
“I surprised that it is filling up so fast with our stuff,” DeGroot said. “It looked a lot bigger when it was empty. But it will be plenty big for our needs. We will be able to put our boat and other equipment that we’ve been outside before this. Now it will all be in one place.”
