New Town Airport to host Fly-in

By Jerry W. Kram

New Town’s Airport got a facelift last fall, and the New Town Airport Authority wants the community to help it celebrate by hosting a Fly-in on Saturday, May 16 from 8 to 10 a.m. The public is welcome to attend this free open house and breakfast.

Mylo Wolding said that Fly-ins are an open invitation for any pilots in the region to bring their planes to the airport and show them off for other pilots and the public. He said this was the first Fly-in in New Town in several years.

"We hope to get a good number of planes because we are practically a new airport," Wolding said. "It’s pretty nice out there. So we are hoping to get a good turnout and good weather. If it is successful, maybe we can make this an annual thing."

Wolding said there should be at least one World War Two vintage aircraft from the Texas Flying Legends group. The group has 10 antique aircraft that they store at the Air Museum in Minot when they are not flying them around the country.
