New taste in New Town

Ask any resident of New Town, or even people just passing through, what the town needs and as often as not, one of the first things they say will be, “a different place to eat.”
Sunday, June 2, the choices for a meal got a little bit more diverse as the China Express opened its doors at 358 Main Street in New Town. The hours of the restaurant are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week, said manager Ricky Zheng.
“It is Chinese traditional food,” Zheng said. “We charge by the item, so it depends on how much you eat. If you eat less, we charge you less. We also have carryout orders. You can call us to order or come into the store.”
Meals start at $7.99 for one item with fried rice or noodles. Additional items are $1. The restaurant also offers all you can eat salads for $4.99. Beverages include pop, coffee, hot tea and iced tea. Among the items offered at the grand opening were bourbon chicken, cashew chicken, mushroom pork, snow shrimp, beef and broccoli, General Tso’s chicken, Mongolian Beef, fried green beans and more. The restaurant does not use MSG in its food.
“Everyday we will have one or two special items,” Zheng said. “The food is really, really fresh. Sometimes buffet food can get a little bit dry, so we just make a little bit at a time to make sure it stays fresh. People come in and we make. We will prepare the fresh food for everybody.”
