Multiple accidents claim four lives
Three people died in three single vehicle accidents in the area over the Veterans Day weekend and another man died in a collision Wednesday in an accident filled week.
Robert Bruce Cadeau, 44, Baraga, Mich., was killed Friday when his 2001 Ford pickup overturned on the Parshall Bay Road three miles west of Parshall. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Cadeau was headed west about 11 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The pickup slid off the road onto the north shoulder and went into the north ditch and overturned. Cadeau was ejected from the vehicle. The highway patrol, Mountrail County Sheriff’s Office, Parshall Fire and Rescue and Parshall Ambulance responded to the accident.
Keegan Fred, 30, Douglas, was westbound on North Dakota Highway 23 headed from Minot to Douglas at 1:40 a.m. Sunday morning when his 1997 Ford F350 pickup drifted over the right hand edge of the road into loose gravel and rock, according to the highway patrol. The vehicle plunged into a slough on the north side of the highway and came to rest on its passenger side. Fred exited and tried to swim to shore, but succumbed to the cold water and drowned. He was recovered by the Minot Fire Department Dive and Rescue Team. The highway patrol, Ward County Sheriff’s Office and Minot Fire Department responded to the accident.
