Marathon swim raises $15K

The water was calm and peaceful at 5:30 a.m. on August 31 as Mark Fox started his swim to raise money for the Red Sage organization. But about halfway through his 12 mile, seven hour swim, the North Dakota wind returned with a vengeance and he had to work his way through choppy waters to successfully complete his mission.
“I’m glad that it happened that way,” Fox said. “I wanted to make sure that I worked really hard and I’m glad that I was challenged that way and most of all, it’s for our young people. I’m just so glad that I made it and I’m glad that we had an opportunity to raise money for children and kids. It’s a good thing. I’m just glad to be standing here, honestly.”
Red Sage, which stands for Resource & Economic Development Strategic Alliance for Growth and Education, promotes social, educational, vocational, health and character development opportunities to the youth and communities of the Fort Berthold Reservation.
