Mandaree opens new Head Start

“They are the future and this is their home,” said West Segment Tribal Council Representative Randy Phelan.
Phelan was speaking at the dedication of the new $2.35 million Head Start Building in Mandaree.
“This has been a long time coming for our Head Start students,” Phelan said. “To have this building and program moving in there for the fall semester is really something we have been looking forward to.”
Kelly Bradfield, director of the TAT Head Start Program, was ecstatic over the new building. She said the previous Head Start building was a double wide trailer that dated back to 1979, and had been in use by the program for more than 30 years.
“Love it, love it,” Bradfield said. “It’s a beautiful building. It contains two full classrooms, an industrial kitchen, a nice beautiful cafeteria, storage space, offices and a nice playground out back.”
