Makoti Threshing Show this weekend

Makoti Threshing Show this weekend

Fire up the steam engines, sharpen the plow lays, it’s time once again for the Makoti Threshing Show.
The annual event, celebrating its 51th year, is this weekend.
One of the newest traditions of the show kicks off activities Friday – it’s the “Tractor Trek.” Tractors will assemble in Makoti at 8:45 a.m., travel to Ryder for coffee, and then back to Makoti for lunch.
While there are numerous activities to whet the appetite of any historian the highlight is the parade that boasts more than 300 operating units. Parades begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Following the parade will be threshing and plowing demonstrations on the threshing grounds, located on the south edge of Makoti.
Featured events of the show include a large stationary engine display, North Dakota’s largest crawler tractor collection, Bessie Bingo, an antique power log saw and an operating shingle mill.
A pioneer village is on the threshing show grounds. The village consists of churches, cook cars, homestead shacks, a country school, a post office and a working blacksmith shop.
