In just a few days legislators from across the state will convene in Bismarck for the 62nd Legislative session. The session begins Tuesday, Jan. 4.
District 4 legislators, Sen. John Warner, D-Ryder, and Reps. Tom Conklin, D-Douglas, and Kenton Onstad, D-Parshall, said they are looking forward to the session getting underway. District 4 includes portions of McLean, Mountrail, Ward, McKenzie, Mercer and Dunn counties.
One thing that will be different this session is that one party, the Republican Party, will have a super majority in both the House and Senate. Conklin said he feels the session should be interesting, being controlled by one party.
Talking about new Gov. Jack Dalrymple’s budget, Conklin said he feels comfortable with what is proposed – with one exception – there’s not enough money for roads in the western part of the state affected by the oil industry.
