Legion sponsors Oratory Contest

The District 9 American Legion oratory contest is completed. Beck-Sherven- Foreman post sponsored the event in collaboration with New Town High School. Winners included David Crain from Squaw Gap who took first place with an award of $300. Cauy Hartel from Watford City placed second which garnered $200. Mia Di Iorio from Ray took 3rd place at $100. Prizes are paid from North Dakota Department of American Legion.
As first place winner, David Crain, moves up to the Division Contest in Watford City. It is scheduled for Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1 p.m. The Division awards the same prizes as the District and are also funded from the North Dakota Legion Department. Judges for the event included Gladys Pennington, New Town; Marilyn Hudson, Parshall; Jackie Basaraba, New Town and Pastor Robert Schmidt, New Town.
