Lady Braves have last minute stumble
By Jerry W. Kram
For 30 minutes and 40 seconds it looked like the Parshall Braves were headed to the North Dakota State Class B Girls Basketball Tournament.
“This is girls basketball, leads are going to change,” said Braves Head Coach Dusty Olson. “Nobody ever has a sure lead. They are an almost identical team to us. We know what we had to do and we came out with a plan.”
In the Championship Game of the Region 8 Girls Basketball Tournament held at the 4 Bears Event Center, it looked like the Braves would upset the sixth ranked Trenton Tigers after leading the game from the opening minute. But the Tigers showed the resilience they’ve had all through the tournament season and pulled out a last minute 51-49 victory to face Hettinger in the opening round of the state tournament.
