H.A. Thompson opens New Town location

By Jerry W. Kram

North Dakota blows cold and hot, each season in its turn, and in turn people want to be warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Residents of New Town and the surrounding region will find that task a little easier, and possibly cheaper, with a new resident in New Town.

H.A. Thompson and Sons is no stranger in the area. The company is more than 100 years old and has served many customers in the area through its offices in Minot and Bismarck for the last 20 years. However, with United Prairie withdrawing from the heating and cooling business to concentrate on its propane business, H.A. Thompson saw an opportunity, said General Manager Brad Mann.

"We were presented the opportunity to take over the service for United Prairie," Mann said. "We decided not only to take over that service but to move additional personnel to the town and offer not only service, but installation and upgrading equipment as well. So it is a full range of service."

Mann said this will be a good thing for area residents since they will no long have to pay for the time and mileage for a technician to travel from Minot as well at the time and parts to do maintenance and repairs.
