A mission that normally takes trips to central and South America, is coming to the Fort Berthold Reservation in June to spruce up two nursing homes and carry out community projects.
The Mission of the Good Samaritan Society will be arriving in Parshall and New Town on June 4, attend church on June 5 and spend a week working at Rock View in Parshall and the Good Samaritan Society in New Town, according to Rock View administrative assistant Carol Zacher.
At least 15 people will be coming from all over the United States to paint and landscape in Parshall and paint in New Town. Zacher said there may be other projects lined up such as planting flowers around town, but it depends on a number of factors.
“We’re their mission and they want to take care of us,” Zacher said. “This is a completely new experience for us. It’s wonderful.”
According to Zacher, Good Samaritan Society employees throughout the United States take paid time off to usually go on missions to places like Colombia and Panama.
This year, they will take that PTO, and donate some time, to come to the Fort Berthold Reservation and provide the manpower needed to get things done.
