Three Affiliated Tribes member Pete Fredericks of Twin Buttes said he was surprised and honored to be inducted into the first class of the Indian National Finals Rodeo Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 12, during the 36th annual INFR rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada. The INFR announced earlier this year that the Hall of Fame was established and the first inductees would be featured and inaugurated at the 2011 Indian National Finals Rodeo Nov. 8-12.
In 1975, Fredericks was one of six founders and original commissioners of the Indian National Finals Rodeo. The other founders and inductees were Mel Sampson, White Swan, Washington and Fred Gladstone, Bob Arrington, Dean Jackson and Jay Harwood. Fredericks said he and Mel Sampson are the only two still alive today.
