By Jerry W. Kram

The Three Affililated Tribes will have a new Chairman.

The current chairman, Tex Hall, came in fourth place in voting in Tuesday’s Primary election on the Fort Berthold Reservation. Tribal Tax Director Mark Fox received the most votes out of the 2,476 cast – 728, nearly 30 percent. Tribal Attorney Damon Williams came in second with 641, or 26 percent.

Fox and Williams came in first or second in the voting in every segment except Mandaree, where West Segment Representative Randy Phelan dominated the voting and Twin Buttes, where Tex Hall edged Willaims out for second place to Fox by five votes. Phelan was third in the voting, followed by Tex Hall, Ken Hall and Marcus Levings.

Fox and Williams will face each other in the general election on Nov. 4.
