Four Bears welcome Littel Schell Celebration

Four Bears welcome Littel Schell Celebration

By Jerry W. Kram

The timeless beauty of more than a dozen drums sounding ancient rhythms will resound across the Missouri River once more as the Antelope Society again presents the Little Shell Celebration in Four Bears.
Celebration committee president Jim Baker said the celebration has been celebrated every August for as long has he can remember.
“The celebration is a public gathering of our people,” Baker said. “That’s what makes it special for me. A lot of reunions happen at the celebration as families get together. We also get many service members who are on leave. It is really special when the veterans and service men and women come back and are honored by the dancers.”
Flag raising will be at 8 a.m. daily starting on Thursday. Veterans from all branches of the service will conduct the ceremonies. Grand Entries will be held at 7 p.m. all four days and at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
