After spending 23 years at Fort Berthold Community College with the past five as president, Russell Mason is stepping down for personal reasons.
Mason announced Monday he is leaving and the college immediately began seeking a replacement.
“That person will have to have a great deal of experience with a tribal college,” Mason said. “I will stay on until someone else is found so there is no gap in the position.”
Full details of Mason’s position and the criteria to hire, may be found in the classified section of this newspaper. Mason, who grew up in New Town and is an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes, said he believes the college is looking for an enrolled member to replace him.
In addition, he said his replacement will have to possess good management skills. He said there is a lot of time spent on financial and personnel matters.
