FBI closes shooting case
After 11 months, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has closed the case of woman and four of her grandchildren who were shot and killed in New Town.
J. Christopher Warrener, Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Division of the FBI, announced that the FBI has concluded its investigation into the shooting deaths of Martha Johnson, Benjamin Schuster, Luke Schuster, and Julia Schuster in New Town, on November 18, 2012.
The FBI investigation determined that Kalcie Eagle shot and killed Martha Johnson, Benjamin Schuster, Luke Schuster, and Julia Schuster in their home in New Town on November 18, 2012, with a hunting rifle. Eagle acted alone during the commission of these killings.
Eagle made statements to witnesses who were interviewed by the FBI admitting his responsibility for the killings. Moreover, Eagle made statements to witnesses who were interviewed by the FBI which confirmed his possession of the hunting rifle which was used in the killings. Eagle committed suicide on November 18, 2012, in Parshall, by cutting his throat with a knife. Autopsy and toxicology examinations conducted after Eagle’s death revealed the presence of methamphetamine in his system.
