Faith, family support Spotted Bear

By Logan J. Davis
Melissa ‘Missi’ (Hood) Spotted Bear has always had strong faith and she has many of her friends, family and community members who also believe in her.
The Parshall woman has been fighting a brave battle with colon cancer. She is not alone and has many caring people standing by her side through it all. One of her strong supporters is her sister-in-law, Fahtima Hood, who recently ran and dedicated a half-marathon run in the Black Hills to Spotted Bear.
Additionally, many other people came together locally to organize a fund raiser for Spotted Bear at the Edgewater Country Course in New Town. The Melissa (Hood) Spotted Bear Golf Benefit was very successful. There many four-person teams taking part in the event. Dianne Primeaux was one of the people who helped organize the event. She noted that play continued on deep into the late afternoon and into the evening because so many supportive golfers sere out on the course for Spotted Bear. Seventeen teams paid $240 each to play in the benefit tournament on a cool and windy day.
Spotted Bear is a positive person and the golf benefit gave her another boost of optimism about how blessed she is to live in such a generous and caring community. She is doing everything that she can to win her latest battle in life.
