Expansion proposed for Whiting Gas Plant

The North Dakota Public Service Commission will hold a public hearing on Thursday, April 10th, regarding a proposed expansion of the Robinson Lake Gas Plant located approximately 8 miles northeast of New Town or six miles south of Belden.

The Robinson Lake Gas Plant, owned by Whiting Oil and Gas Corporation, was originally constructed in 2007 to process gas from oil production. Since being placed into service, the plant has been modified and redesigned to meet increased regional demand for gas processing of wellhead gas produced by Whiting Oil production, as well as third-party entities active in that area.

The proposed expansion puts that plant above the 100 million cubic feet per day production level that requires a formal siting under state law, but will occur entirely within the existing fence line of the plant. The site is approximately 23 acres. Construction of the plant expansion would include the modification and/or installation of underground piping, above ground piping and compression.

The public hearing will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014at the Mountrail County, South Complex Building in Stanley.
