Documentary filmmakers offer classes on reservation

By Jerry W. Kram

A group of documentary filmmakers who produced a historical film on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation about the pioneer missionary Harold Chase are returning to teach film making classes in collaboration with the Nueta Hidatsa and Sahnish College in New Town.

NHSC is teaming up with the University of Colorado in Boulder and Dakota Media Access in Bismarck to create the MHA Collaborative Film Project to offer workshops on filmmaking that are free and open to the public. The first workshop will begin Monday, July 11 in New Town at the college. Later workshops will be offered in Twin Buttes, White Shield and Mandaree. Anyone age 9 and up can participate and those over the age of 16 can get college credit from NHSC.
