Decisions made on Outlot2 and water plant

The New Town City Council made some decisions on some long-simmering issues as it decided that the city would develop infrastructure on Outlot 2 and also allocated $1 million to repair a decade of neglect at the New Town Water Plant. The Council also found out that the environmental assessment for the northeast bypass was complete and the date for a public hearing has been set.
Alan Estvold, of Ackerman-Estvold Engineering, informed the council that just one more signature was needed to approve an environmental assessment for the northeast truck bypass. The bypass, formally called a truck reliever route, will be the subject of a public hearing to be held at the New Town City Hall on March 19 starting at 5:30 p.m. After the hearing, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will respond to public comments. If all goes as scheduled, construction of the bypass could start in late spring of this year.
