Tribal chairman candidates spar in college setting

More than 100 people in attendance and a reservation-wide radio audience heard former Three Affiliated Tribes Chairman Tex Hall and incumbent Chairman Marcus Levings debate Wednesday night on how the Three Affiliated Tribes will function in the next four years.
The two men, with completely different styles, answered questions from a panel of distinguished tribal members and audience members. The questions ranged from how are you going to help Fort Berthold Community College to how do you justify a debt of more than $100 million?
At times the debate became boisterous and it was obvious that Hall was pouring a lot of energy into his responses. Levings remained calm and collected despite some rebuttals by Hall that suggested Levings wasn’t managing the tribe or its funds properly.
