According to Dennis Heer of New Town, going to car shows is more about friendship and comaradarie than it is winning.
But that friendship turned into something more last weekend in Medora when several enthusiasts from Mountrail County, or natives of this area, either won or took second place in several divisions of the 33rd annual Medora Car Show.
Heer and his wife Sheri topped the list with first place in the original and unrestored division with a 1964 Corvette. Heer is quick to point out that the Corvette is Sheri’s car, one that was purchased about this time last year and was first displayed by the Heers during the 2009 mid summer festival in downtown New Town.
“That was the second year of the Stingray body style,” said Heer, who operates East Side Auto Body in New Town. “It’s all original. It’s a fun little car to drive. To the best of our knowledge it’s all original. It had been in storage for 20-25 years.”
