Club members meet president, first lady

William Stevens knows that hard work and being consistent will pay huge dividends. Just ask him.
Stevens, a member of the New Town Boys & Girls Club, along with his mentor Dave Williams Jr., recently met President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during a trip to Washington, D.C.
In fact, it was on the one-year anniversary of Obama’s inauguration, Jan. 20, when the New Town duo met the president and first lady during a meeting in the East Room of the White House.
“I felt lucky. It could have happened to anybody, but it happened to me,” Stevens said. “It was insane, but I’m happy to have it happen.”
