Cleaning up in New Town
North Segment opens laundromat on Main Street
By Jerry W. Kram
Dr. Monica Mayer said that part of the reason she wanted to run for segment representative nearly four years ago was to clean up New Town in many different ways. One of the more literal ways she is tackling that mission came on Tuesday when she cut the ribbon to officially open the North Segment Laundromat on the Main Street of New Town.
Mayer praised Jay Standish, who will be the manager of the laundromat. She said he presented a plan to start a business washing bedding and other material from the 4 Bears Lodge and Casino 15 years ago and has made it a successful business ever since.
“So who better to manage this operation,” Mayer said.
Standish said the laundromat will be equipped with 18 20-pound capacity washing machines along with two 40-pound and two 60-pound machines for bedding and large loads, along with a similar number of driers. A vending machine will allow the purchase of soap, bleach, drier sheets and other supplies.
