City steps up curfew enforcement

By Jerry W. Kram

The New Town City Council has instructed the New Town Police Department to strictly enforce the city’s existing curfew law.
Under the ordinance, persons under the age of 18 cannot be out on the street without the supervision of an adult from the hours of 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Council members said this step was being taken to limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus by keeping groups of young people from gathering. Council members expressed the view that most youth were being responsible and staying indoors and practicing social distancing.
